InDesign Brief - Workshop (OUGD406)

21ST FEBRUARY
OUGD406
INDESIGN BRIEF.
ANIMAL - PENGUIN.

STARTING SET UP
To create a double page spread we created 2 pages to work on, however because these to pages include the first page of the document which, when part of a book, does not have a corresponding page.

To overcome this issue you have to add in another page so page 2 and 3 are then corresponding pages that face each other creating a double page spread.

Because we are only working on the last 2 pages of this document it is worth to take note when printing to only select these relevant pages.

To aid the layout and design process we set our document up with guide lines.
When laying out images and type on the page these guidelines will be useful in ensuring the legibility of the document and how well it is received by the audience.

SEARCHING FOR IMAGES.

It is important when using images taken form the internet you look for stock images. It is also important to ensure that you are searching for large images as these will have a better resolution.

After choosing your image upload it to Photoshop and check the size of the picture and the resolution of the document.
By checking the 'resample image' box you ensure that the image will not by altered while you are working with it. You also have to make sure that the resolution of this image is set to 300pi as this is the highest it can be when working with print.

Make sure you save the image as a TIFF so the quality of the image isn't lost. Once you have saved the image you can then place it onto your Indesign document.

To check the size of your image if you have changed the size of the image. This allows you to check the scale.
If you need to adjust the image again you can quickly open it back up into Photoshop by right clicking and selecting 'edit with'.

Adjusting the image through photoshop can ensure that when you document is printed the best quality of image is achieved.
By the re-saving this TIFF file the indesign image is automatically updated.
