PACKAGING DESIGN.
IDEAS.

I started looking at ways in which I could package and display the acorn I am supplying for the gift box which is intended to be planted on behalf of the celebrant. Over Christmas we were given a hamper with tester jams in it. The jars were so cute and I kept a few. I thought it would be fitting to use one of these to house the acorn as you would be able to see what was in it as well as it being able to fit in the larger box.

I started looking into how I could apply printed designs to the pot.

Because of the size of the pot, it was difficult to apply any of the crests as any detail was lost due to the reduction. Instead I looked at different methods.

I tried making the labelling simpler so it was easier on the eye.

By swapping the type and crown gives the type a little bit more leeway so I can make it slightly bigger making it easier to read.
I was happy with this labelling as it remained consistent with other aspects of the gift set and also had a little diversity considering the way in which the acorn is packaged.

I explain the significance and meaning behind this gift I created a little leaflet that measures the same dimensions as the inside of the top of the little wooden box the pot will be situated in.
I want to had this leaflet foiled however Im not so sure on what colours would look best so i think I will experiment when i get to the print room.

This is another box I had kept for the possibility it could come in useful (yes I am a box hoarder!) I was thinking I could have a cup and saucer inside this box as it is a suitable shape and size. i started looking at ways of labelling this box.

I recreated the shape of the box on Illustrator to make it easier in visualising possible labels and designs.
I came up with the lable 'Royally exclusive' as I feel this gives the object an air od speciality and uniqueness which intern will make the recipient feel exclusive and important as well as proud to have such a product that is associated with the royal family.
I like having a description on the back to what the product is inside.

I printed out the label to mock up this possible packaging.
I liked this design and label however I decided to concentrate more on item that would be part of the luxury box set rather than the other items that could go on sale as individual items.

I liked the label I had made for a proposed packaging prototype for a cup and saucer. i liked the front design of that label with the crest on the front of a sash that can be taken on and off the box.

I had collected some boxes for craft shops in leads that I thought would be suitable for my box. At first i was skeptical at choosing a block box because even love I know and Love that black and gold of very well together, i didn't want to use black too much with in the box as it may be seen as a little funeral like and depressing.

I took the design off the front and applied it to the boxes.

For the centre box i decided that to chop up the aesthetic a little, rather than having the royal coat of arms just plastered on everything, I wanted the box with the acorn in it to have the specialised logo i had created on it.

I tried elongating the circular shape to accommodate the longer logo better. However i felt that this just looked out of place comparing them to the others so i reverted back to the circular belly band shape.
I applied the printed sashes in the closest colour I could manage to gold to see how they look.
I partly felt that all the white and gold was a little bit much so I wandered what the centre sash so i printed it again in black to see how this would look.

I vastly pefur the previous colour combination.

i wanted the larger box to had information on the back to so i came up with a design that was suitable for this.
The 'commissioned by Buckingham palace' is something that is commonly used for any memorabilia that the royal collection sell. it almost like a seal of approval that is there to prove authenticity.

I prefer the design with the cron in the centre as I feel there is more balance here as well as being related to the coat of arms that is present on the other boxes.
