LIVE BRIEF / WEDDING INVITES.
MOCK UPS AND FILES FOR PRINT.

I sent this image to Mandy to make sure she was happy with the visuals I had created. She confirmed that this and was very excited at the fact the were about to be sent to print. I created these visuals so the client could see how the invites would look in a real life format rather than flat images.

I saved all these files as tiffs and combined them into a pdf file as individual pieces (apart from the rsvps). I then selected the requirements I wanted for the invites such as the paper size and paper type. Once everything was in place I submitted the order .

Because the celebration of the wedding is at the Smith household, Mandy has requested that I order 50 of each component so she will have a few more invites spare incase others people are added to the list.

ESHKIM / LIVE BRIEF.
EVALUATION.

Overall I really enjoyed working on this brief. At times it was difficult working with the client as they are friends and I didn't want me doing this for them harm that. The only hiccup with the client was at one point in the process when they started to go off on a tangent asking about a different business card design according to something they had seen on a webpage I has sent to show and explain the print process as well as it being a possible place to order the business cards. Fortunately this issue resolved its self after i got chance to finish and present all the components of the identity I had created. Other than this, I was happy with the freedom i got to create the aesthetics of this brand and i also feel that i impressed client with the further development proposals such as the sample pack and the online presence.

The client it still in the process of establishing links with possible bottle makers and sellers so the labelling is still In the process of negotiation. i have tent the designs for the business cards over to the client and he was going to investigate into the availability of letterpress printing over there.

Regarding the development of my work I feel that I worked efficiently considering the work load at the time. I also think that my ideas developed and adapted well to the brief and I was able to cancel out irrelevant or unsuccessful designs quite quickly (with help from the group crits). I also enjoyed taking designs that perhaps didn't forefill the ethos I was trying to go for and adapting them until I got an out come I was happy with and that I felt was appropriate to the aesthetics of the brand.

I feel I am more confident when taking on peoples concepts and idea and then making them into something that works for the product. I feel I am now more considerate to the not so obvious aspects of the process such as stock and print choices and also how these can be beneficial to the product and its ethos.

BEAR CEREAL / COLLABORATIVE BRIEF.
DESIGN BOARDS & SUBMISSION.

I took on the task of creating the design boards that are need for the submission to the YCN competition.

Before the submission date, we also had a crit based on the design boards we need for the submission. Unfortunately Sarah was un-well and couldn't attend this crit. The only boards I had managed to do in time for the crit are the character development board, the concept board for the chameleon and the examples of the mock up boxes.

The concept board explains our ideas on the characters and what the educational aim is as well as how the audience are to interact with the characters and the facts that are interpreted throughout that game.

The individual character boards will explain the concept behind each of the characters and how the game, facts and cut outs work. It also shows the imagery used to enhance the subject. (There will be a board for each character).

The third board shows the concept and visuals in a real life format in order for the design to be seen the way it is intended.

FEEDBACK
The feedback I got for the boards was overall positive.

- The theme and layout of the board is very reminiscent of the actual product.
- The information given is to the point and explains the concept well.
- The illustrations are strong and very well executed.

- Make sure you check the spelling on each board.
- Make sure the boards are numbered and names properly
- Make sure the background colours are consistent.

Taking on board the feedback given at the crit I improved and carried on with the creation of the boards ready for submission.

ON THE BOX
I sent the designs and content to Sarah to make sure that she was happy with the boards I had put together. She was happy with the boards so I then converted them into PDF's ready for them to be sent for submission.

I am really happy with these design boards and I think that that portray not only the aesthetic sarah and I have worked on and executed, but also the ethos that the Bear cereal company already possess.

Studio Brief 2 / Group session / Development of ideas

OUGD505 / STUDIO BRIEF 2
EMPEZAR / FROM BEAN TO BAR.
STUDIO SESSION & DEVELOPMENT.

During this session we were asked to take part in tasks that would help us to get a better grasp on the studio 2 project and help to decipher direction.

The first task was to write down words that came into our heads when thinking about the research taken out through our research publications.

We then marked out which words from this list we felt were the most important when it came to the project.

Regarding the different techniques that are available to us when carrying out this project, We were asked to come up with a few that we felt would be suiting for this brief.
We then marked out which process we felt had the most use and suitability concerning our projects.

We then listed things that we thought would be suitable to produce in response to our individual briefs and then marked out the once we felt were the most relevant and doable.

We looked at the possible audiences that could come into contact with what it is we want to produce and why.

We also listed the 2 areas of graphic design we thought most appropriate for or subject and concept. i feel that Product and Packaging and Branding and Identity are the most appropriate fro what I am wanting to achieve.

I felt that this helped me to define my concept and really got me thinking about what I could do for this project. Straight after this session, while these ideas were still in my head, I made my own list.

Studion Brief 1 / Packaging Development

OUGD505 / STUDIO BRIEF 1
RESEARCH PUBLICATION.
DEVELOPMENT OF PACKAGING

Regarding the ideas i had come up with previously when thinking about packaging my publication.

During the last crit, many people suggested that i should go with the packaging idea that was mad up of a sliding box that resembled dripping chocolate. i started by testing out this idea first by making a mock up.

Even though I do like this packaging and had a lot of fun putting it together as a box. I feel that it is a little impracticable conceding the drips. They get caught on the edge of the second part of the box making it fiddly to slide them together. Because they are flimsy and have not muck holding them steady, they also get caught even when the box is closed causing them to bend out of shape.

I felt that having this would hinder the professionalism and crafting skills I am trying to portray through this brief.

Because of this I decided to look at the other options. my personal favourite packaging design from he start was the one that looked like a chocolate box with the publication inside.

I started by making a mock up of the box I could use.

Im really happy with how this turned out and I think that it works well as a chocolate box. to reveal the chocolates inside I can cut a section from the lid and apply some acetate plastic.

I started to digitalise some design ideas for the box regarding the presentation though colours and naming.

I looked at were the open piece of the box could sit on the top in order to see the chocolates/publication through. I liked the rectangular shape that ran across the bottom of the box. I feel that this gives of like a traditional feel and also gives room to place the title of the publication.

After previously deciding to call the publication 'Empezar' due to the fact that this means beginning in Spanish (dialect used in the region chocolate originated) this is what I applied to the box design.

(Unfortunately I forgot to take screenshots of my process concerning this design.)

I used the rectangular open space along the bottom and also create almost like a tag that comes down over the top of the box.

I added a pattern that i had found on the internet, even though this is something i want to create for myself after the presentation ready for submission. I feel that the colours chosen and the pattern used gives a good mix of tradition yet modern aesthetic which symbolises the brining forward of the original product. Having the logo displayed in a typographic nature lends its self to  more luxurious feel.

I mocked up the box in time for the presentation.
Im really happy with how this looks. I feel that it works really well considering the publication and how it represents the uncovering of the origin and basis of the food type so many love so muck. Th symbolisation of peeling back the decor and additives that go along with this product and brining attention back to were this product actually comes from and what it goes through to become the product we know so well.
